Connectors in Groups

A breadboard is a simple set up of electrical connectors arranged in groups. Many such groups of connectors are placed horizontally and vertically as rows and columns

The connectors are made of metallic strips fixed with spring type clips facing upwards. A large number of connector holes (terminals) run horizontally and vertically are seen on top surface of the board. The metallic strips (such as Nickel) are fixed inside the board box made of plastic in such a way that the clips are positioned exactly underneath each connector holes. The holes allow wires and component terminals  to plug in vertically. The clips holds the  the terminals snugly and make electrical contact.

It is necessary that the proper terminals (polarity) of the wires and components are plugged in the appropriate holes as per the schematic diagram to establish connectivity to complete the circuit assembly. This ensures the proper functioning of the circuit.
