Need for assembly of circuit elements
Circuit Elements
You know very well that Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Transistors, Coils, Transformers etc are all electronic components. In technical terms they are called circuit elements. We can further classify the components into active, passive, semiconductors, ICS, inductors, transducers, speakers, buzzers etc. There are lakhs and lakhs of such discrete circuit elements exist in use in the electronics world. These circuit elements possess values, differ in sizes, operating tolerances and safety features.
Specific functions of the components
As such certain selected discrete circuit elements grouped when associated with each other and put together they tend to perform certain functions for which the circuit has been designed. Put together means when these components are interconnected directly or through electrical wires according to definite rules and set of patterns they give the desired output and perform the specific functions when they are energized for which it has been configured.
Circuit elements association
Electronic circuit as it is called is nothing but specific value components in specified numbers are put together rather inter connected with external conductors or wires in a definite pattern with strict schematic order and properly energised the circuit functions as designed to function in that way. Hence electronics circuit schematic is the ultimate combination of circuit elements in a specified pattern of inter connections among the circuit elements. Thereby the individual components depicts their own characters for which it has been made.
Characteristics of components
Thus resistors controls the flow of current in circuits, capacitors
(non electrolytic) block the flow of current but at the same time allows AC signals to pass through. Electrolytic capacitors smoothen the AC wave forms and somewhat regularises the output signal. Pulse variations are regularised for passage of pure DC.
Diodes and rectifiers acts as one way switch allows current to flow into one direction. Whereas the semiconductors like transistors function in a variety of ways, namely, as a switch, signal, voltage and current amplification task besides inverting, driving and pulsating jobs.
Thus each circuit elements according to the characteristics of the component offer appropriate functions in the circuit schematics.
Circuit schematics
Now you would know very well that to put the circuit schematic to work perfectly, the circuit elements associated with the circuit should be interconnected with electrical wires or any other contact method with a specified schematic pattern for which the circuit has been designed.
Interconnection of circuit elements
The next big question arises is how the discrete components are connected with one another to arrive at a circuit set up. Simply the connections are made by wrapping and twisting the metallic wires, rather electrical wires with the electronic components. Sometimes it may be necessary to wrap and twist the leads of delicate electronic components like diodes and transistors. The rough handling of twisting the components leads may be susceptible to get damaged by either disconnected or even the main component itself may get damaged.
Assembling circuit schematics
As such the components should be necessarily connected with one another in the circuit schematics to establish firm electrical contacts so that they function in association with other components as designed to function for that. Hence a demand arises to have easy, firm and reliable contacts, mainly electrical wires are used. Thus a circuit schematic can be assembled form using discrete components and electrical wires.
In the coming posts we shall discuss various methods of assembly techniques. In the meantime your valuable comments are welcome.
